Presidential Guards have shot and killed an Unarmed civilian in Mogadishu on Saturday night

Two soldiers said to be presidential guards have shot and killed an unarmed civilian in Mogadishu on Saturday night, witnesses and Police said.

Confirming the incident, Police Colonel Mohamed Dahir Abdulle said the security forces have detained the soldiers on the spot in the aftermath of the civilian shooting which occured in Hamar-jajab district.

The killers were taken to headquarters of the criminal investigation department (CID) in the capital for further investigation, said Abdulle while speaking to Radio Shabelle on the phone.

Mogadishu has seen a wave of assassinations in the past few weeks, since the election of the new President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo who vowed to deal with the growing insecurity.
